It’s always so much fun to see the wonderful crochet that our readers share with us at Starting Chain! Today we’d like to feature some very different, but colorful works. All were shared with us by our readers. They brighten the day!

We’d like to thank Sandy, Shirley and Kathleen for sharing their work with us all. Yarn Over!

fromKathleen Mcclain : “A couple of sun dresses…. combining my love of crochet with my love of sewing…….”

from: Shirley Strand: “A selection of crocheted bookmarks to give away at a bookclub meeting! A great way to use up little bits of crochet thread. Pattern is “Fan Bookmark” at crochetroo.BlogSpot.com/2006/05/fan-bookmark.html”

from Sandy Worden-Wiese: “My first project..reading a pattern!! Very easy! I will be making lots of them!! Thanks for the pattern!

We were so glad to see Sandy’s post. We love these little spa cloths and use them ourselves everyday instead of washcloths. They feel so good! They also are great projects for beginning crocheters and are inexpensive to make. We always use cotton and a H hook. Here are the directions we use, but there is plenty of room for variations:

Chain 25. Turn. Row 1: Start in the 2nd chain from the hook and SC in each stitch to the end. Chain 1 and Turn. Row 2: Start in 2nd chain from the hook and SC in that stitch. * Work 1 SC in the next stitch; followed by a TR in the next. Repeat from * to the end of the row, ending in a SC. Chain 1 and Turn. Repeat the Row 2 instructions until you get the size you want. For the final row, you may want to SC in each stitch to give a similar top and bottom edging. Tie off and weave in the tails. Wrap up and give away!
