Crochet gives so many possibilites for creativity. The yarn we use is colorful, the crochet stitches are easy to learn and can, with practice, become almost automatic. Some patterns and uses of crochet are traditional and refined; others are modern and limitless. It all starts with that first Starting Chain.

Here are some examples taken from recent reader posts from our Starting Chain Facebook community. We hope you enjoy them and are inspired to try something new. There are many patterns online or you could create your own design. It’s all about enjoyment and, with fall coming, keeping warm.

“I crocheted this sweater for my puppy… it’s toasty warm.” — Donna DiFalco

“Zalika hat pattern from CrocheTrend (https://www.etsy.com/shop/crochetrend) I made it today in ‘I Love This Cotton’ ~ Aqua, Fiesta Print & Pistache.” — Tiffany Garrett

Afghan using the Corn on the Cob pattern” — Wayne Zeides

Thanks to everyone who has posted photos of their work to Starting Chain. We’re a community and always like to see what projects we all have in progress or finished. Our readers really like to hear about pattern details, if a pattern was used, and about yarn and any construction tips. We do inspire each other. Happy Chaining!
