Staying Warm with Afghans: January 6

With much of the U.S. being just very cold, most of us who crochet are curled under at least one afghan, and we wear our crocheted hats and scarves and sweaters and everything else when we have to go out. But we may feel like we need another afghan…for another bed or a sofa or chair or for a gift. Here are some that have recently been shared with us by our readers. We hope they encourage and inspire!

from: Vickie Jackson: “This is a Afghan that I just got done, and i am working on another in purple and yellow.”

from: Leisa Sellers: “This Piano afghan I crocheted was the hardest I have done so far but I loved every minute of it!!! it came out so pretty!!”

from: Joanne Lavallee-Berrios: “Mitered squares made with Lion Brand Amazing Yarn”

from: Nancy Willhite Bacha: “I love colors! I was looking for a project that would use up some of my stash of yarn. No pattern for this throw, just a large hook and a giant granny square! So much fun I’ve started another!”

Thanks to Nancy, Joanne, Leisa, Vicki and everyone else who has shared their love of crochet and of art with us all at Starting Chain. Those of use who use crochet to create warmth are all to be honored. Stay warm and safe!

Afghan patterns are very easy to find and download online. All the major companies have patterns, many of which are free. It’s fun to spend some time looking at them and determining the one you’d like to try next. Yarn Over!
